    Perfect Jasmine Rice in Instant Pot

    Swapping out your stove for an instant pot will save you time, and you will get the perfect jasmine rice every time. This recipe is very much set it and forget it and only needs three ingredients. You will get fluffy jasmine rice every time.

    So while you are making your chicken stew or pepper soup, you won't have to worry about undercooking or overcooking the rice.

    Growing up in a Nigerian household, rice was purchased in 50 lb. bags or more. We consumed more rice than anything else.

    It is such an important food in African culture so making sure it comes out perfect every time is a must. Whether it's fried rice or party rice, it's basically a sin if it's mushy or undercooked.

    Instant pots are great at allowing us to worry about the main part of the meal while letting the rice do its thing.

    Why Bodybuilders Love Jasmine Rice?

    After competing in my first bodybuilding competition in 2019, I started to understand why bodybuilders loved jasmine rice. After workouts, it is important to have an insulin spike so your muscles receive amino acids.

    Jasmine rice is the perfect option since it is really easy to digest and is high in folic acid (Vitamin B9).

    How to Cook Perfect Instant Pot Jasmine Rice

    There are four important things you need to remember when trying to make the perfect jasmine rice.

    • Wash the rice. Rinsing the rice a few times before cooking removes a lot of the starch from the top layer and you are able to get a fluffier rice grain.
    • Rice to water ratio. It is simple: too much water equals mush, and too little water equals undercooked. Most of the time the package instructions wil
    • Proper cooking time. Utilizing your instant pot in the right way will yield the best results. Most cookers have a rice button that makes figuring out the cooking time so much easier. And remember that every instant pot is a little different.

    Ingredients Needed for This Recipe

    • Jasmine Rice. Any brand will do for this recipe
    • Water.  This recipe uses water, but if you want more flavorful rice, add one part broth.
    • Salt. Optional, but I add just a pinch for taste.

    How to Make Instant Pot Jasmine White Rice

    • Rinse & Repeat. Rinse the rice until the water is somewhat clear.
    • Add salt & water. If you are adding broth, use a 1:1 ratio. One cup of broth and one cup of water. Make sure the broth you are using is the consistency of water, and dilute if necessary.
    • Set the Instant pot. The pressure should say Low and the cooking time to 12 minutes.
    • Set the range. Cooking time range should be set from 1 minute to 30 minutes. Most newer instant pots do this automatically.
    • Enjoy.

    Storage Tips

    Once the rice cools to room temperature, place in an air tight container and store in the fridge. Enjoy your rice for 2-3 days.

    • ¼ teaspoon salt

    • Rinse the rice until the water is clear.
    • Add salt and water.
    • Set the Instant pot pressure to Low and the cooking time to 12 minutes.
    • Set cooking time range should be set from 1 minute to 30 minutes.
    • The rice should be ready to enjoy once the timer goes off!
