Jerk French Fries are a little spicy with a depth of flavor that is unmatched. The homemade dry rub combines all the authentic jerk seasonings with the addition of coconut sugar instead of brown sugar.

Equipment

  • 1 Air Fryer
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 chopping knife

Ingredients

Jerk Dry Rub

  • 1 tablespoon coconut sugar
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon allspice
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon white pepper
  • 1 tablespoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground clove

French Fry Ingredients

  • 2 Russet Potatoes peeled and sliced into matchsticks
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • cooking spray for the air fryer basket

Instructions

  • First, add all of the dry rub ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Set aside.
  • Next, cut potatoes into matchsticks with a knife or a French fry cutter.
  • Place fries in a bowl of cold water and let it soak for 30 minutes.
  • Drain the water and lay potatoes out to dry on paper towels. Pat them dry to remove any excess moisture.
  • Place the fries in a dry bowl and toss in 1 teaspoon of olive oil and 1 teaspoon of jerk seasoning from the batch you made earlier.
  • Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and lay the fries in a flat layer. Be careful not to overcrowd the basket.
  • Cook at 375℉ for 10 minutes. Shake the basket a little and cook for another 5 minutes.
  • Once the fries are golden brown, remove and set aside. Repeat the cooking process for any remaining fries.
  • Sprinkle some chopped parsley for an added touch of freshness.

Notes

  1. Feel free to leave your potatoes unpeeled if you want.
  2. Make sure your fries are all similar in shape so the cooking time doesn't differ too much.
  3. Don't rush the drying process. Any extra moisture on the French fries will prevent them from crisping to perfection.
